Our
History:
Le Violon Bleu art gallery opened its doors in Tunisia
in 2004 at the initiative of Mrs Essia Hamdi. The gallery
is situated in the prestigious bleu and white village of
Sidi-Bou-Said, with exceptional views of Carthage and the
Mediterranean sea.
The gallery’s choices are based on internationally renown artists, with
proven talent and track record.
Many of our artists are included in the public collections of institutions such
as the Museum of Modern Art, New York and The British Museum, London.
Mrs. Essia Hamdi, a French literature teacher, with a passion
for arts since her youth, started with a gallery of antiques and oriental paintings
in the 90’s.
During a visit to the international contemporary art fair in Paris,
Mrs. Hamdi meets Armand, a world renown French sculptor, painter, collector and
son of an antique dealer. Mrs. Hamdi was stunned by Armand’s accumulation
technique and vision for contemporary arts. This marked the beginning of a great
journey that brought into existence Le Violon Bleu Gallery, which used Armand’s
blue violin (a tribute to Yves Klein) as logo. The gallery’s entrance door
is a unique accumulation of Armand’s rusty violins.
In 2006, the gallery expanded its global reach to London, the world’s major
international financial and arts center.
